c) EYOC 2013: Application from Israel
ISR briefly presented their bid (attached as Annex 1).
The event was proposed to take place in the first half of March, due to the heat factor and
the cost factor. However, some federations had reservations about these dates as the
orienteering season has hardly begun in March. Israel confirmed that they would be willing
to take other dates into consideration, more suitable for all federations. The EWG was
mandated to negotiate the dates with Israel.
SUI had concerns about security, in particular when taking into consideration that the
athletes are youngsters. Although the WMTBOC2009 took place in Israel this event was for
adults, which makes a difference.
The result of the voting was: 18 votes for, 1 against, and 2 abstentions.
RESOLUTION
Israel was selected as organizer of EYOC2013, however the dates of the event to be negotiated and
adopted by the EWG.
